SAM gets RM150,000 boost from KBS

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 — The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) has given RM150,000 to the Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM), said its minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.

He announced the allocation during his speech at the 2019 SAM-100PLUS Awards ceremony at Akademi Badminton Malaysia (ABM) in Bukit Kiara here yesterday.

He said that of the total, RM50,000 was in the form of subsidy to help SAM cover its two years’ rental of office space until December 2022 while the other RM100,000 was as financial aid.

“The RM100,000 financial aid will be given out by the end of this month. I hope SAM will take steps to continue to spread Malaysia’s name to all corners of the world using the various communication mediums that exist today,” he said.

He also suggested that SAM should contribute its expertise in the field of digitalisation to National Sports Associations (NSAs) so that the digitalisation fund of RM30,000 as allocated through the 2020 Sports Concern Initiative could be best utilised.
