Selangor to focus on sports that potentially contribute medals

By Nadiah Zamlus

SHAH ALAM, Oct 28 — Selangor will be focusing on sports that have the potential to contribute more medals in major tournaments, next year.

Selangor Youth, Sports Development and Human Resource Development Committee chairman Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the focus includes training programmes, coaching and sports facilities for the athletes.

“I have high hopes that the state government will provide a better allocation in the 2021 Selangor Budget for us to continue the sports development programme.

“Hopefully, the upcoming budget will enable athletes to get better facilities and improve their performance,” said Mohd Khairuddin Othman, adding that a long-term action plan is being drafted by the State Sports Council.

At the same time, he said the state government is restructuring the recruitment of coaches to produce more quality athletes.

“Better employment structure would also guarantee their careers as coaches,” he added.

The tabling of the 2021 Selangor Budget will be broadcasted live from the Selangor State Legislative Assembly and can be viewed on the TV Selangor channel at http://selangortv.my.

Its live broadcast could also be viewed through Facebook Live on Media Selangor Facebook page.
