SHAH ALAM, Feb 19 — Ikea Malaysia announced the closure of their store in Cheras today for sanitisation and full contact tracing, due to confirmed Covid-19 positive cases involving its store co-workers and service partners.
In a statement issued on their Facebook today, Ikea said the Covid-19 positive cases were detected following a routine screening test at their Cheras store.
“Their last working days were between February 8 and 14. All co-workers are now in self-quarantine until further notice from the authorities.
“Therefore, we are taking precautionary measures to close our Cheras store on February 19 to undergo the necessary sanitisation and full contact tracing in accordance with the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) standards.
“All our co-workers who were in close contact have already been placed on home quarantine and completed Covid-19 swab tests,” said the statement.
Ikea Malaysia said they are working closely with the authorities and will act on their advice.
It added the store has and will continue to carry out all necessary safety measures including replacement of co-workers, contact tracing, swab tests, quarantine for all close contacts and sanitisation.
Ikea Malaysia also advises its customers who have further enquiries and seek more information to call MOH’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Center’s (CPRC) hotline at 03-8881 0200/0600/0700.
On January 25, Ikea closed their Cheras store after several security guards there tested positive for Covid-19.
While on January 2, Ikea Damansara announced its closure due to confirmed Covid-19 positive cases involving its store co-workers and service partners. It resumes operations on January 5.
