MB visits vaccination centre, urges more elderly, OKU to register

KUALA SELANGOR, April 24 — Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari yesterday inspected preparations for the opening of the district vaccination centre at the Kuala Selangor Indoor Stadium.

He said the district-level Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Kuala Selangor that begins on Monday, targets 180,000 individuals comprising the elderly,  persons with disabilities (OKU) and chronic patients.

“I hope these groups will register quickly for the vaccination, as I was told the registrations has not reached the set target.

“Therefore, I urge community leaders to play their role by actively helping the registration process,” he told reporters.

Amirudin said the vaccination programme in other districts will be implemented in stages based on the supply of vaccines.

“The vaccine procurement process is decided by the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, so we are waiting for his announcement.

“However, I have asked the district officers, members of parliament and state assemblymen to prepare early in terms of facilities and equipment,” he said.

The second phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme that targets 9.4 million recipients started in several states on Monday (April 19).
