Selangor allows Aidiladha prayer in selected mosques, limited to only 50 congregants — Exco

SHAH ALAM, July 17 — Selangor allows selected mosques in the state to conduct Aidiladha prayer, but the capacity is limited to only 50 congregants, including the mosque officials.

Aidiladha will be celebrated this Tuesday (July 20).

State Islamic Religious Affairs, Consumer Affairs and Halal Industry Committee chairman Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni, through a posting on his Facebook, said the permission is also given for suraus that are allowed to conduct Friday prayer, but with only 40 congregants allowed.

He said the mosques that are allowed to conduct the Aidiladha prayer comprise Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah; Masjid Tengku Ampuan Jemaah, Bukit Jelutong; Masjid Raja Fi Sabilillah Cyber Jaya, as well as those categorised as “masjid pengurusan”, “masjid institusi” and “masjid kariah”.

As for “surau kariah”, he said, they are not allowed to conducted the Aidiladha prayer.

Administrators of mosques and suraus that can conduct the Aidiladha prayer are only allowed to invite members of the parish who have completed both doses of the Covid-19 vaccination, he said.

Mohd Zawawi said with the limited number of congregants allowed to perform the Aidiladha prayer in mosques and surau, the people are advised to perform the prayer with their family members at home.

He said a guide on performing the prayer at home is available on the Selangor Islamic Religious Department’s (Jais) official website, Facebook and Instagram.

Conducting “takbir raya” from house to house and visiting cemeteries are not allowed to curb the spre4ad of Covid-19, he added.
