SHAH ALAM, Aug 25 — Three out of the 26 initiatives outlined in the Selangor’s second Kita Selangor Package, which was announced on June 9, have been completed, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
The Menteri Besar said the programmes include the loan moratorium for Hijrah traders, rent deferment for low-cost (PPR) housing tenants, and deferment of scholarship loans for Yayasan Selangor students.
He said as of August 16, a total of RM236.63 million, or 42.9 per cent, out of the RM551.56 allocated funds have been disbursed to the targeted groups, benefiting 496,800 recipients.
“The one-and-a-half month loan moratorium for Hijrah traders has a total financial implication of RM11.35 million, while the rent deferments for the month of July for PPR and Smart Rental Scheme housing tenants comes at a total cost of RM900,000.
“Deferment of the scholarship loans for Yayasan Selangor students adds up to a cost of RM1 million. The remaining 23 programmes are still ongoing,” he told the Selangor State Legislative Assembly today.
The Kita Selangor 2.0 package was introduced to help those who have taken a direct hit from the pandemic as well as the movement control order.
Some 1.6 million people in Selangor stand to benefit from its wide range of assistance, including students, entrepreneurs, single mothers and those in the disabled community.
