MB appreciates youth volunteers’ contribution in post-flood recovery

SHAH ALAM, April 15 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari acknowledged that youths have played an important role in helping Selangor recover after last year’s floods.

He also appreciated the involvement of the youths which enabled the state to solve problems faster, especially in the volunteerism activities during the post-flood period.

“No less than 50,000 volunteers were involved, with 60 per cent consisting of young people who were fast to help us within one month after the catastrophic floods hit.

“The people of Selangor were able to overcome the trauma caused by the floods and continue on with their lives, contributed to some extent by the young people involved,” he said yesterday.

He was speaking at the Menteri Besar’s Fast Breaking with Selangor’s Young Generation event at the Menteri Besar’s official residence yesterday.

He said the commitment shown by youths during the floods is proof that they are ready to face any possibilities that could occur.
