Gombak, Hulu Langat to undergo stormy weather this evening

SHAH ALAM, May 18 — Two districts in Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat, are expected to undergo thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds until 7pm today.

In a warning issued by the Malaysia Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) at 4.10pm, the agency said similar weather conditions are also predicted to hit several other areas including Jeli and Kuala Krai in Kelantan, Terengganu (Besut and Setiu), Pahang (Bentong, Temerloh and Kuantan) and Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Kuala Pilah and Rembau).

Meanwhile in East Malaysia, stormy weather is also expected in Sabah (Keningau, Tambunan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Ranau, Kota Belud, Tawau, Lahad Datu, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Kudat).

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
