Heavy rains, thunderstorms in parts of Selangor until late tonight — MetMalaysia

Shah Alam, Nov 19 — The ongoing stormy weather is expected to cover five Selangor districts until later tonight, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)

In a statement issued at 8.20pm, the agency said the districts include Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat, and Sepang.

“Other states and territories which will also be affected include Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Mersing in Johor, Jeli and Kuala Krai in Kelantan, Alor Gajah and Melaka Tengah in Melaka, Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Yan dan Kuala Muda), and Penang (Barat Daya, Timur Laut, Seberang Perai Utara dan Seberang Perai Tengah),

“Similarly, Perak (Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang dan Muallim), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Bera, Pekan dan Rompin) and Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau dan Jempol) will also see strong weather,” it said.

The weather is expected to persist until 11pm.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding an hour for a single release.
