Four new faces among 24 sworn in as MPKj councillors

HULU LANGAT, Jan 3 — Four new faces were among the 24 councillors sworn in at the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) here today.

Its president Najmuddin Jemain said the councillors will serve the term from January 1 until December 31 this year.

“We hope that the appointed councillors will be able to perform their duties with excellence for the community. The new faces in particular need to understand and make efforts to know more about their roles as council members.

“We as the local government would always welcome their presence,” he said after the swearing-in ceremony of MPKj councillors for the 2023 term today.

Previously, state executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han had announced that a total of 272 councillors were appointed for the 12 local councils, with 28 per cent ot 76 of them are women.

The council members are appointed for a year starting on January 1.
