Selangor’s economy strong in lukewarm market conditions

SHAH ALAM, AUG 15: The domestic economic scenario and the expose by the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) regarding the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) financial scandal had affected the country’s economic expansion.
However, according to Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, foreign investors’ confidence in trade relations with Selangor have not been affected due to the transparency of its governance.
“The confidence of foreign investors in Selangor is proven in the 2015 MIDA Report on the state’s economic success.
“We came out second on investment in the services sector with an investment value of RM2.36 billion and third in the manufacturing sector with an investment value of RM7.96 billion,” he said.
He was speaking at the opening session of the 2017 Budget Roundtable Discussion at the Shah Alam Convention Centre.

During the session, Mohamed Azmin said the 2017 Budget focuses on efforts to continue with the Smart Selangor concept implementation as the main direction for the state’s economic expansion.
It is also focused at citizens’ needs for more efficient services for the sake of economic prosperity.
“The State Government’s development philosophy is to raise the rural communities’ quality of life to a level at par with modern living.
“However, we still retain the character and personality of the rural communities, working together harmoniously and sustainably with the natural environment,” he said.
