Water disruption due to suspected sabotage

SHAH ALAM, SEP 30: Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) has taken action against the alleged party involved in the water disruption in Klang and Petaling Jaya on September 1.
Air Selangor CEO Suhaimi Kamaralzaman said that investigations by Air Selangor into the matter revealed that there was sabotage and the company has suspended an employee on September 6.
A police report was also lodged on September 9 and the investigation report was submitted to the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) for further evaluation.

“Air Selangor will cooperate with any authorities regarding this investigation and will not hesitate handing out severe disciplinary action, including termination.
“We take this incident seriously because it has affected more than 34,000 users and Selangor citizens during the water disruption,” he said in a statement.
He said that the unscheduled water disruption happened in Klang and Petaling Jaya and affected more than 39,000 accounts in 24 areas in Klang and 29,000 accounts in 27 areas in Petaling, especially in the Sime UEP area.
However, he said, water supply was restored the following day.
“We are monitoring our assets and important water supply systems carefully to ensure this sort of incident does not occur again and to avoid any sort of water supply disruption due to employee negligence,” he said.
