MPSJ contractor appointments through open tenders

SHAH ALAM, JAN 13: Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) denied allegations of wrongdoing in a direct contract award for cleaning services in its administrative area.
Yang Dipertua Dato’ Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan said the contractors were appointed based on MPSJ’s criteria and conditions.
He said the appointments of September 2016 had also involved the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
“I deny the allegation that MPSJ practices bribery and wrongly choses contractors.
“Effective January 1, garbage collection duty is taken over by new contractors consisting of 33 contractors and 50 general cleaning contractors,” he said as quoted by Sinar Harian.
He was commenting on allegations made by media social users claiming that the Subang Jaya garbage-collection contractor appointments had involved bribery.

At the same time, Nor Hisham said that garbage collection issues raised by residents in MPSJ are taken seriously.
He said that included creating a special committee involving his employees to address the hiccups in new contractors’ services.
“We have asked these contractors to provide telephone numbers to council members and Resident Committees for direct liaison relating to garbage collection and cleaning matters.
“The public who are facing these issues can lodge their reports through MPSJ call-centre at 03-80247700, which operates 24 hours a day,” he said.
