Number of Hulu Langat flood victims drop

SHAH ALAM, JUNE 19: As at 10 o’clock this morning, the number of flood victims in Hulu Langat is 358 people from 87 families.
The number has dropped from 440 people from 111 families yesterday, when water has been receding and victims are starting to go home.
Four evacuation centres, Dewan Wanita Kg Bestari Sg Michu, SK Sungai Serai, Dewan Orang Ramai Taman Seri Nanding and Kompleks Penghulu Batu 10, were opened to house all the victims.

Earlier, 90 people were reportedly trapped in the flood that happened in Sungai Serai, Batu 14 and Kampung Dusun Tua due to heavy rain since 2 p.m. last June 17.
Bomba Operations Commander, Mohd Syafiq Ramli said, heavy non-stop raining in Hulu Langat since yesterday evening has caused several areas to flood.
“Sungai Serai is the area that is most flooded with water level exceeding one metre.
“So far, there are 167 people from 37 families are involved in Kampung Sungai Serai,” he said when met by SelangorKini at Batu 14 Police Station, Hulu Langat, yesterday.
