SBK MRT daily passenger number exceeds 140,000

KUALA LUMPUR, JUL 24: The daily number of passengers taking the Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line is 142,313, exceeding 140,000, as of last July 22.
Rapid Rail Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Zohari Sulaiman said, the highest number was recorded during the weekend.
“We recorded 90,409 passengers on July 18 and it increased to 96,887 on July 19 while 95,009 passengers were recorded on July 20.
“We exceeded 100,000 last Friday, July 21, with a total passenger number of 110,782 while 142,313 passengers were recorded on July 22,” he said in a statement.
At the same time, he also hopes that Malaysians particularly those living in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor will continue to use public transport instead of driving themselves into the city.
“We would like to thank our passengers for their support and hope that they will continue to use the Rapid Rail network consisting of Kelana Jaya, Ampang, Sri Petaling LRT Line, monorail and SBK MRT which is handled by Rapid KL,” he said.
The first phase on Sungai Buloh-Semantan MRT Line was launched last December 15 and operations began the following day registering 15,000 passengers daily.
