SHAH ALAM, SEP 22: Selangor intends to become an active trading partner with China in view that the great-wall country is among its highest investor with a cumulative investment value of almost RM3.2 million.
Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said, he welcomes a stronger tie as the second busiest container port which is Port Klang is the key to the strategic trade growth between Selangor and Guangdong.
“In ASEAN, Malaysia is China’s preferred trade destination since 2008 with a total bilateral trade value of USD106 billion.
“Selangor wish to become an active partner in China’s expansion in view that it is our key investor with a cumulative investment value of RM3.2 billion.
“We welcome this stronger relationship,” he said in Twitter.
Mohamed Azmin had led the Selangor’s delegation to Guangdong, China to attend the Industrial and Financial Development and Collaboration Forum Launching Ceremony in the country.
He is also scheduled to attend the Guangdong 2017 Expo and Silk Road Maritime International Conference there.
Guangdong is reportedly the country’s biggest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) contributor.
Among the 31 provinces and municipalities in China mainland, Guangdong in South China is the biggest and fastest growing economy in terms of GDP.
Previously, The Global Times had collected date issued by Guangdong Statistical Bureau on January 22, showing the economy of the province had surged from 7.5% from year to year to 7.95 trillion yuan (USD1.16 trillion) last year.
Guangdong’s economic growth also remained faster than the national average of 6.7 percent, although it was slow in the previous year.
The government said in its official website that it is its 28th consecutive year that the province’s total GDP was praised as the largest in China.
According to the website, if Guangdong can be considered a country, its economy will be the 16th largest in the world.
