SHAH ALAM, March 31 — The Selangor Menteri Besar has urged the state’s health department to conduct Covid-19 screenings on the residents of Sungai Lui in Hulu Langat, especially those who are considered high-risk.

Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said this was one of the measures taken by the state government following the implementation of a two-week enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in the seven villages in Sungai Lui effective March 30.

“The state government will also channel the food aid immediately tonight (last night) to all of the residents in the affected area.

“We are prepared to increase the food supply throughout the EMCO period,” he said in a statement yesterday, after chairing the third special state security committee meeting.

Amirudin said the Selangor Information Department will disseminate information to the residents through the Info on Wheels initiative.

“Announcements will be made on the latest information or regulations, including at mosques and surau in every area on directives that must be complied with. Emergency contact information will also be provided in the announcements,” added Amirudin.

The Federal government had yesterday announced the lockdown of seven villages in Hulu Langat effective from March 30 to April 13.

This was following the 71 positive Covid-19 cases identified among 274 residents of the Maahad Tahfiz AnNabawiyyah school at Batu 23.
