SHAH ALAM, April 13 — The Selangor government has yet to decide whether to allow barbershops and salons to resume service during the movement control order (MCO) period, BH Online reported yesterday.
State executive councillor Ng Sze Han said the decision will be announced after meeting with the National Security Council (NSC).
“The state government will discuss with NSC and get further explanation on the matter. A decision will be made soon,” was quoted by the Malay daily.
Ng had personally viewed that operation of barbershops and salons is not an essential service during the MCO.
“I do not see the need to allow barbershops to run (at the moment),” he said.
On Saturday, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah had advised the Federal government to implement the restrictions imposed during the first and second phase of the MCO period throughout the extension of the order, which begins Wednesday.
He said tighter regulation should be in place during the third phase of the MCO, including postponing the operation of barbershops and hair salons.
