Selangor Agro Market records RM2mil sales

By Wan Faizal Ismayatim

SHAH ALAM, April 10 — The Selangor Agro Market programme has recorded total sales of more than RM2 million, says the State Public Amenities, Agricultural Modernisation and Agro-based Industry Committee chairman.

Izham Hashim said the oversupply of agricultural products, such as fruits and vegetables, during the movement control order (MCO) had been addressed through the initiative.

“Through the Selangor Agro Market, we have resolved two main issues whereby we managed to provide sufficient food supply to the people in Selangor and at the same time market the local farmers’ products,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini yesterday.

Izham said in less than a month, the programme had recorded high sales-growth which is projected to increase due to overwhelming response from the consumers.

“Public feedback showed that the people are satisfied with the affordable and fresh products offered,” he said.

The Selangor Agro Market is available in nine locations — Holysmoke Cafe in Section 13, Shah Alam, Mak Uda Restaurant in Section 15, Shah Alam, Mad About Cafe in Petaling Jaya, FAMA Operations Centres in Dengkil, Puchong, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam, the Selayang farmer’s market (pasar tani) and My Farm Outlet in Putrajaya.

The state government had initiated the programme on March 27 to ensure that the people have access to affordable fresh produce as well as to address the oversupply issue.
