KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 — Bus operator Gets Global Bhd emerged as a top gainer on Bursa Malaysia at midday today as the company’s shares soared to a record high of 93.0 sen following the announcement of its plan to venture into the glove-making business yesterday.
The company is also one of the most actively traded counters on the local bourse.
At lunch break, Gets Global’s stock surged 26.5 sen or 39.85 per cent to 93 sen, with 120.98 million shares traded.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, the loss-making company said it planned to venture into the manufacturing, sale and marketing of gloves as well as other related activities.
The company also proposed a private placement of 158 million new shares at an issue price of 55 sen per share to its major shareholders to fund the new business.
Interestingly, other than Gets Global, Konsortium Transnasional Bhd (KTB), the country’s largest public bus operator, also saw its shares soaring by six sen, or 54.54 per cent to 17 sen at midday, with 199.49 million shares transacted.
KTB is also the second most traded stock on Bursa Malaysia during the early trading session.
