Selangor govt to conduct targeted Covid-19 screening in Klang

SHAH ALAM, Oct 8 — The Selangor government will conduct targeted Covid-19 screening in areas in Klang district which will be placed under Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) beginning tomorrow (October 9).

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said that the state government will provide full cooperation to all federal government agencies involved to ensure that the well-being of the people is protected during this period.

“For the coordination and standardisation of information, the National Security Council (MKN) under the federal government will announce the details of the implementation of CMCO in Klang,” he said in a statement here today.

Amirudin said that the state government had also presented all the feedback and suggestions related to the implementation of the CMCO, with some modifications, in the Selangor MKN special meeting this morning chaired by state secretary Datuk Mohd Amin Ahmad Ahya.

Apart from Klang, the federal government has also imposed a CMCO in the areas classified as red zones in Sandakan, Papar, and Tuaran in Sabah, starting on the same date, following the increase in Covid-19 positive cases in these areas.

Yesterday, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was reported to have said that the implementation was to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the districts besides enabling targeted case tracking activities to be carried out over a period of 14 days.
