Medan 88 Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi Residents cooperative on first day of EMCO

SEPANG, Nov 11 — Residents in Medan 88 Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi have been very cooperative with health workers conducting Covid-19 screenings on the first day of the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) today.

Checks by Bernama showed them registering in groups to undergo screenings as early as 8 am, with the Sepang District Health Office having set up two stations to screen around 800 residents in the area.

A health worker, Dr M Vikneswari said each station has six registration counters and two residents would undergo swab tests at any given time.

“At the registration counter, we will interview the residents to gather basic information on employment, places they have been to and the people they have come into contact with.

“So far, all the residents have been very cooperative,” she said, adding that there were health workers in full personal protective equipment (PPE) going from one shophouse to another, as well as knocking on residents’ doors and asking them to undergo screening.

“This is to ensure that the stations here are not overcrowded,” she said.

She added that announcements through loudspeakers were also made from Information Department vehicles every 10 minutes, asking residents to get themselves tested.

Checks by Bernama found that the entry and exit points in the 2.64-hectare area were well-guarded by police and members of the Malaysian Armed Forces, with barbed wires and concrete barriers erected in the area around 6 pm yesterday.

Shops selling daily necessities, such as 7-Eleven, and restaurants, like KFC, are operating as usual.

The Medan 88 commercial centre has 284 premises and over 800 residents, mostly Malaysians.
