SHAH ALAM, Dec 12 — The Selangor government aims to build 40,000 units of affordable homes under the Rumah Idaman project by 2022.
State executive councillor for housing Rodziah Ismail said to date, four projects involving 6,029 units are under construction as well as at development planning approval process.
“We hope that the Rumah Idaman project would be able to solve the homeownership issue for the middle (M40) and lower-income (B40) groups.
“Housing is an important aspect in forming a harmonious community as well as for their wellbeing, therefore the state administration is committed to providing the people with affordable homes,” she told SelangorKini today.
The Rumah Idaman units offered have over 1,000 square feet of living space priced at RM250,000 and are equipped with airconditioners, kitchen cabinet, wardrobe and water heater. The projects under construction are located in Kajang, Bangi and Paya Jaras.
On July 13, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state aims the housing project with an economic value of RM12 billion would be able to solve the house ownership issue within the bottom 40 and middle 40 groups.
