SHAH ALAM, Dec 28 — The repair works at the site of the landslide behind the double-storey terrace houses at Taman Kelab Ukay, Bukit Antarabangsa, were completed early this month.

The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) Communications Department head Norhayati Ahmad said the residents have also moved back into their respective houses.

“The steel installation to prevent earth movement, drainage repair and a few upgrading works to strengthen the banks of Sungai Sering which began on June 1 have completed as scheduled.

“However, MPAJ will be conducting periodic inspections at the area and we have advised the residents to alert us immediately if there is any earth movement that occurs,” she said when contacted.

On May 30, residents of seven houses at the residential area had been instructed to evacuate following a landslide behind their row of houses after a night of heavy downpour.

The residents were moved to Hotel De Palma, Ampang, for seven days with their expenses being borne completely by the Selangor government.

The state administration had also provided house rental assistance of RM1,000 for six months and financial contributions of RM500 each whereas the Housing and Local Government Ministry had allocated RM3,000 in rental assistance.

On June 4, the Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced an allocation of RM433,800 for the reparation and strengthening works to be carried out on the Sungai Sering banks by the Selangor Department of Irrigation and Drainage.

Aside from that, an in-depth study of the (Bukit Antarabangsa) area which constantly faces landslide incidents over the past few years has also been carried out.
