Selangor e-sports competition attracts 19,206 participants

SHAH ALAM, March 31 — The Selangor Xtiv Virtual 2021 e-sports competition that is organised by the state government has received 19,206 participants since its launching last Tuesday (March 23).

State executive councillor for sports Mohd Khairuddin Othman said response for the programme, which offers seven types of games, was very encouraging and is confident of reaching the 450,000 participants target.

“Almost all the registration were for the Selangor Xtiv Virtual e-sports competition with 18,000 participants.

“While for Selangor Xtiv Virtual Marathon (716), Selangor Xtiv Virtual Chess (400), Selangor Xtiv Virtual Martial Art (58) and Selangor Xtiv Virtual Youth Busking (32),” he told SelangorKini today.

He said the Selangor Xtiv Virtual Ride and the Selangor Xtiv Virtual Jump Rope Challenge competition will begin in May.

“The public can get more information on the programme on the Selangor Xtiv Virtual 2021 Facebook page via the link www.facebook.com/selangorxtiv2020,” he said.

The Selangor Xtiv Virtual 2021 started this month until December and offers a total prize of RM411,680.

The programme was first held last year and received an overwhelming response when it recorded 250,631 participants as well as 18 million views on social media platforms.

It also attracted foreign participation from Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, Japan, India and the United States.
