Most popular e-sports event, Selangor Xtiv Virtual sees over 30,000 participants

SHAH ALAM, May 6 — The Selangor Xtiv Virtual 2021 e-sports competition has seen the highest number of entries involving 18,000 participants since it was launched in March.

The competition, which is part of the Selangor Xtiv Virtual 2021, offers online games such as PUBG, Mobile Legends Bang Bang, Call of Duty Mobile, Pro Evolution Soccer 2021 and FIFA Pro Club.

State executive councillor for sports Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the event, which enters its second year, received 31,617 entries as of yesterday.

He said other competitions such as the Selangor Xtiv Virtual Marathon recorded 3,009 participants while the Selangor Xtiv Virtual Chess recorded 400 entries.

“Besides that, a total of 158 participants registered in Selangor Xtiv Virtual Youth Busking and 82 participants for Selangor Xtiv Virtual Martial Art.

“The remaining two competitions, the Selangor Xtiv Virtual Ride and the Selangor Xtiv Virtual Jump Rope Challenge, will start in the middle of this month,” he said, adding that a total of 450,000 participants are targeted to participate in the entire event which runs until December.

The Selangor Xtiv Virtual 2021 offers seven types of competitions from March to December with a total prize pool of RM411,680.

Last year, the programme received an unexpected response involving 250,631 entries and 18 million views on social media platforms.
