Cash aid for deceased flood victims’ families to start tomorrow

SHAH ALAM, Dec 27 — The next-of-kin of those who perished during the recent floods can expect to receive their cash aid from the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit (BSB) this week.

In a special press conference held today, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said so far 25 people have been confirmed as killed in the floods, and their next-of-kin will start receiving the RM10,000 aid tomorrow (December 28).

He added the registration of the RM1,000 cash aid to flood victims in the state will also begin in stages on Wednesday (December 29) with payment expected to start before the end of January next year.

“The flood victims are listed under three categories, first those who stayed at the public flood relief centres (PPS) operated by the state, those who stayed at a private or corporate PPS, and those who were affected but did not evacuate or stayed at any of the PPS,” he said during a hybrid press conference streamed live on Facebook and Youtube.

Amirudin said the state will open one-stop-centres (OSCs) at the PPS and other localities, which will be led by the Selangor Land and District Office, and have representatives from the Social Welfare Department (JKM), police, and the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS), for flood victims to register for other aid.

He added for those in categories one and two, a majority of them do not have to register at the OSC, as their details were taken down during their time at the PPS, except for those with incomplete details.

“As for category three, aside from having to come to register at the OSC, our officers (Team Selangor and Serve Selangor) will start a registration drive by going from home-to-home to get their details, starting on January 3, 2022.

“The online application will be started through the hotline and the official website after the completion of offline registration to avoid data duplication so that the aid distribution process can be completed as soon as possible, no later than January 31, 2022,” he said.

Amirudin said the registration at the OCS is important, as aside from RM1,000 from the state government flood victims are also entitled to RM1,000 from the Federal government and an additional RM600 for Muslim flood victims from LZS.

“They can also register for these aids at the OCS,” he said.

Amirudin said there are over 9,000 families registered at PPPs’, and with the unregistered, there may be a total of 15,000 to 20,000 families who will receive aid from BSB.
