Ang pows worth RM10,000 up for grabs at Selangor’s virtual CNY celebration

SHAH ALAM, Jan 31 — Members of the public are welcomed to catch the state-level Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration, which will be broadcast live on social media on Tuesday.

Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the celebration will be hosted by the Menteri Besar’s Mandarin Facebook page (@ami.mbselangor) at 9pm.

He said the audience could stand a chance to win some cash in an online competition held on the social media platform in conjunction with the state’s CNY celebration.

“Tag and share it with your friends to win ang pows worth RM10,000!” he said on Twitter, yesterday.

Similar to last year’s edition, the Selangor CNY celebration will be held online due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The show will also be streamed live on Selangor Buddhist and Taoist special committee chairman Dato’ Teng Chang Khim’s Facebook page (@tengchangkhimpage).

This year’s programme will feature more diverse performances by artists from the 1970s through to the 2000s in the hope that it will attract viewers of all ages.

The state government has also introduced a CNY song titled ‘Salam Tahun Baru’, which will be performed by several artists, including Chow Kam Leong, Chang Sang Teck, Lim Wen Suen, and Lee Elaine.
