Pekawanis: Initiative for frontliners’ children proof of Selangor residents’ unity

SHAH ALAM, March 23 — The Caring Initiative for Children of Frontliners (Inisiatif Cakna Anak Petugas Barisan Hadapan) formed by the state government has succeeded in inculcating unity among Selangor residents faced with difficult circumstances.

Selangor Women’s Welfare and Charity Organisation (Pekawanis) president Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad said the initiative applies elements of humanity and societal good, aimed at forming a community that is always caring over issues and challenges in the present.

She added Pekawanis has also conducted field visits to provide stationery and equipment to kindergartens so as to lighten their burden, especially the rising operating costs.

“These children’s toys provided by Pekawanis come from public donations via the Toys Donation Drive which was recently conducted.

“The nobility of Selangor residents’ hearts cannot be measured merely by what they have contributed to us. The Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) also made things a success by donating reading materials to the kindergartens involved,” Masdiana said.

Speaking at the Caring Initiative for Children of Frontliners’ appreciation ceremony at the Menteri Besar’s official residence earlier today, she said Yayasan Emkay also donated child development materials while Pertubuhan Salwa Malaysia donated food and bread.

On January 25 last year, the state government launched the initiative to create temporary care centre services for Covid-19 frontliners for free.

It involves the opening and operation of kindergartens and care centres in public hospitals, in addition to temporary premises which are expected to benefit nearly 400 frontliner families throughout the state.
