Downpour in four Selangor districts until early morning tomorrow

SHAH ALAM, April 17 — Heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms are anticipated for the district of Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang and Kuala Langat later tonight.

Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in a statement released at 8.40pm said the inclement weather will last until 1am tomorrow morning.

The agency said other states and locations which are expected to undergo strong weather include Kedah (Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Penang (Seberang Perai Utara, Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Selatan) and Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak).

Similar bad weather is also expected in Kelantan (Jeli and Gua Musang), Pahang (Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh and Bera), Negeri Sembilan (Jempol) and Johor (Batu Pahat, Kluang, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru).

The agency issues a warning when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour which are expected to occur over the one-hour duration.

Thunderstorm warnings are short-term and are valid within six hours after it was issued.
