Join associations, help Selangor develop state policies, MB tells youths

SHAH ALAM, April 14 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has encouraged youths in the state to join the Selangor Local Youth Movement (PeBS) or any similar youth organisation to plan various activities for the benefit of society.

He said the widespread active participation of youths helps to add to the multiplicity of views which will be for the betterment of Selangor.

“The bigger we become the more groups we have, and the more views and lines of thought which will help the state prepare policies, job opportunities and to prepare government decisions.

“This was evident when we faced the Movement Control Order and the state government implemented various programmes including the Roda Darul Ehsan initiative to help youths get their own (vehicle) licenses, and eventually the programme was expanded with a RM2 million allocation,” Amirudin said.

He was speaking at the Menteri Besar’s Fast Breaking with Selangor’s Young Generation event at the Menteri Besar’s official residence earlier this evening.

Some 300 youths from NGOs celebrated today’s fast-breaking with an iftar dinner alongside Amirudin.

The Menteri Besar also handed over contributions to 14 NGOs and nine youth district councils totalling RM5,000 and RM3,000, to be used for their activities.
