KAJANG, April 17 —Selangor Agriculture Development Corporation (PKPS) will double the number of goods and produce sold at affordable prices in its Jualan Prihatin Rakyat programme in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Its group chief executive officer Dr Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi said the Mega Sale is scheduled to start on April 28 to 30 as part of their aim to get more people to benefit from the programme when preparing food for the festival.

“We will bring 2,000 egg trays and 1,000 chickens for three days in a row on April 28, 29 and 30. We give the public an opportunity to buy PKPS products in conjunction with Hari Raya.

“In fact, we will also add more locations during the mega sale to four locations every day compared to the current two locations per day under the programme,” he said.

He said this when met at the Jualan Prihatin Rakyat programme for the Semenyih state constituency at the Taman Jenaris Residents Association centre here today.

Mohamad Khairil added that among the initial locations identified for the mega sale programme are in Shah Alam, Sungai Tua, Sabak Bernam, Pandan, Morib and Tanjung Sepat.

“Insya-Allah (God willing), we will update this programme from time to time as there is a high demand for it. We will implement it in the best way possible for the benefit of the people,” he said.

The state government had, on February 27, agreed to sell four daily necessities, namely chicken, egg, meat and fish, at an affordable rate through the Jualan Prihatin Rakyat programme.

The programme is held weekly in 64 areas across Selangor to ease the burden of the people following the price hike of goods. The initiative will be held until the Hari Raya festival.

A total of 10,000 chickens, 3,100 kilogrammes of fresh meat, 6,200 kilogrammes of mackerels and sardines, and 315,000 grade B eggs are up for sale at the Jualan Prihatin Rakyat.

The programme offers chicken sales priced at RM12 per piece, fresh meat at RM35 per kilogramme, eggs at RM10 per carton, and mackerels and sardines at RM8 per pack.
