SHAH ALAM, April 17 — Selangor Agriculture Development Corporation (PKPS) has recorded a total sales of nearly RM700,000 from its Jualan Prihatin Rakyat programme since it was introduced on February 28.

PKPS Group chief executive officer Dr Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi said the total figure was registered from the sales of chicken, eggs, fish, fresh meat, and vegetables in 22 state constituencies.

“Among the popular items were eggs, chicken and cooking oil packets. The price offered is reasonable, with a cooking oil packet selling for RM2, whole chicken for RM12 and eggs for RM10 per tray.

“This prices of goods sold under this programme are very cheap and people should take the opportunity to buy quality daily necessities at attractive prices,” he said.

He said this when met at the Jualan Prihatin Rakyat programme for the Semenyih state constituency at the Taman Jenaris Residents Association centre here today.

Mohamad Khairil also sought the cooperation of state assemblymen and state constituency coordinators to publicise the programme so that more people can benefit.

“We hope that the people’s representatives can help promote the programme. This is because some of the areas received a low response, especially in the city,” he said.

The programme is held weekly in 64 areas across Selangor to ease the burden of the people following the price hike of goods. The initiative will be held until the Hari Raya festival.

A total of 10,000 chickens, 3,100 kilogrammes of fresh meat, 6,200 kilogrammes of mackerels and sardines, and 315,000 grade B eggs are up for sale at the Jualan Prihatin Rakyat.

The programme offers chicken sales priced at RM12 per piece, fresh meat at RM35 per kilogramme, eggs at RM10 per carton, and mackerels and sardines at RM8 per pack.
