Three Selangor districts to experience thunderstorms, heavy rain this evening

SHAH ALAM, April 30 — Three districts in Selangor are expected to undergo thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains until 4pm today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a warning issued at 1.55pm on Facebook, it said the districts include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor.

MetMalaysia also forecasted similar weather patterns for the whole of Penang and Melaka.

Other states and territories include Kedah (Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Kerian and Larut, Matang and Selama), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub and Bentong), Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Rembau and Tampin), Johor (Tangkak, Mersing and Kota Tinggi), Sarawak: Miri (Telang Usan) and Limbang and Sabah: Pedalaman (Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Keningau and Tambunan), Pantai Barat, Sandäkan (Tongod) and Kudat (Kota Marudu).

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
