Contributions from state companies, others help to upgrade Rumah Puteri Arafiah facilities

SHAH ALAM, May 27 — Several facilities at the Rumah Puteri Arafiah (RPA) shelter centre have been upgraded due to contributions from various parties, including from state government subsidiaries.

Its director Zaharah Abdul Bakar said the improvements will enable the residents to live more comfortably and make them more motivated to change themselves.

“RPA purchased mattresses, pillows and new lockers with the funds contributed by Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad as well as the Selangor Islamic Religious Council.

“At the same time Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor contributed 14 fans for the residences. Trainees feel more comfortable resting after carrying out their packed schedule in the day,” she said during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house earlier today.

RPA’s patron Tengku Putri Datin Paduka Hajjah Arafiah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz was also in attendance at the event.

Zaharah expressed her gratitude for the help and contributions made by all parties.

RPA is a care and shelter centre for teenage girls under the age of 21, which was established by the Selangor Women’s Welfare and Charity Organisation (Pekawanis) in 2011.

The centre has become a place to guide and provide protection to problematic teens via an emphasis on the element of developing model and spiritual individuals.
