Six Selangor districts to see rain, thunderstorms until evening

SHAH ALAM, May 15 — Inclement weather is to be expected for six Selangor districts, which will last until this evening, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)

In a statement issued at 4.30pm, it said thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains are expected in the Kuala Langat dan Sepang districts, until 6pm today.

The agency said similar bad weather is also expected to hit other Selangor districts in Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat) as well as Kuala Lumpur, until 7pm today.

Meanwhile other states that will experience same inclement weather are Putrajaya, Melaka, Kedah (Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Penang (Seberang Perai Utara, Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Selatan, Pahang (Bera), Negeri Sembilan (Tampin), Johor (Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru), Sarawak: Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Samarahan, Sri Aman (Sri Aman), Betong, Sarikei, Sibu (Sibu), Mukah (Tanjung Manis, Daro and Matu), Miri (Beluru, Miri and Marudi) and Limbang and in Sabah: Pedalaman (Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort, Keningau and Tambunan) and Pantai Barat.

The weather is expected to persist in these localities until 6pm.

The agency issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
