Most of Selangor to undergo inclement weather until late evening — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, June 17 — Eight Selangor districts will experience strong winds, heavy rains and thunderstorms as the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) predicts it will last until late evening today.

In a statement issued at 3.25pm, the agency said the affected districts include Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang.

The weather will persist until 7pm.

“Other states and localities include Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Melaka,” it said.

Kedah (Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Penang (Seberang Perai Utara, Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Selatan), Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim), Kelantan (Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang and Kuala Krai), Terengganu (Besut), Pahang (Jerantut, Maran, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin), Negeri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson and Rembau) and Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian and Johor Bahru) will also see inclement weather during this time.

The agency issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
