State executive councillor for sports Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the event, officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, was held in collaboration with the Selangor State Sports Council (MSNS).
“The event drew over 5,000 participants from 24 countries such as Vietnam, the United States, the United Kingdom, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, Portugal, Philippines, China, Netherlands and Nepal.
“Other countries include Morocco, Spain, Kenya, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh, Australia, Madagascar, Japan, Iran, France, Canada and Belgium,” he said in a statement today.
He added the competition involved two categories namely the 21 kilometres (km) and 12 km categories with an accumulated prize of RM30,000.
“The competition serves as a platform for the state government to approach the youth aside from encouraging the public to take part in running events. Indirectly, it helps to nurture sports activities within the community,” he said.
