Nearly 21,000 benefit from Bingkas, RS-1 provides more sustainable life — Exco

SHAH ALAM, Aug 3 — The First Selangor Plan (RS-1) tabled on July 27 provides huge benefits to the state’s citizens, thus ensuring a more sustainable life.

Among the initiatives included in the five-year development framework is the Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor (Bingkas) that has benefitted nearly 21,000 recipients by providing RM300 in monthly cash assistance.

State executive councillor for trade and investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said the assistance’s allocation amounts to RM6.3 million, and was distributed via the Wavpay e-wallet from July 1 to July 28.

“However, payment to 282 individuals are still being processed as the recipients’ identification card and phone number need to be rechecked,” he said at the winding-up session on the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) bill during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly on Monday.

Teng added RS-1 will help companies to achieve the ‘soonicorn’ (valued at US$100 million) status and subsequently become a unicorn company (valued at over US$1 billion) through the Smart Digital Economic and Smart City Convention (SDEC).

He said the convention, launched in 2016, helps formulate a better framework following various discussion with industry players, academicians, small-and-medium entrepreneurs, aside from the government and private sectors.

The Bandar Baru Klang state assemblyman said the state government will continue providing support by readying various financing schemes and explanations on the roles of agencies that are related to entrepreneurs.

“The state government will ensure all programmes meant to help startups expand will be implemented consistently,” he said.

Meanwhile, Teng said that 10 development projects will be undertaken in the Integrated Development Region In South Selangor (Idriss), with six projects in Kuala Langat and Sepang previously planned to be within the Selangor’s Golden Triangle areas.

They includes the Selangor Business Capital, Sepang Gold Coast Global Village, Sepang Aeropark, Guocoland Emerald Selang, Putrajaya Holding, and NCT Smart Industrial and Business Park.
