Flood mitigation project yet to start, state govt to cooperate with MACC probe — MB

SHAH ALAM, Sept 29 — The flood mitigation project under the Shah Alam Sustainable Urban Drainage Master Plan (SASuD), which is linked to the arrest of several Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) personnel on graft charges, has not started.

However, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government is prepared to fully cooperate with the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission’s (MACC) investigation.

“I am sure the contract for SASuD has yet to be awarded out. So if the arrests are said to be linked to the flood mitigation project worth millions of ringgit, then it did not happen,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking during the state disaster simulation and training programme today, which saw 343 participants from 67 agencies join the programme at Dewan Jubli Perak.

The Menteri Besar added they will give room to the MACC to conduct its investigation. An internal investigation will also be carried out if so recommended by the agency.

“We are willing to conduct an internal investigation if requested by MACC to find stronger evidence,” he added.

Previously, it was reported that MACC raided the MBSA office as part of its probe into the mega flood mitigation project valued at hundreds of millions of ringgit.

MACC has detained three individuals so far to help in their investigation under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
