SHAH ALAM, Sept 18 — The Malaysian Meteorology Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in six districts in Selangor until 2pm today.
The districts affected are Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat and Sepang.
In a statement issued at 9.50am, MetMalaysia said that a similar weather condition will also be experienced in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya as well as four other states.
This includes Perak (Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim), Terengganu (Kemaman), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Kuantan and Pekan) and Johor (Batu Pahat, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru).
“The warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour or expected to take place for over an hour.
“Thunderstorms warning is a short-term warning which is valid within six hours after it was issued,” the statement read.
