Always putting the people first, Amirudin best candidate to go against defector

SHAH ALAM, Oct 29 — Selangor Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has described the nomination of its chairman Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari to contest the Gombak parliamentary seat in the 15th general election (GE15) as the right choice.

Its communications director Azmizam Zaman Huri said that the party is confident that the Selangor Menteri Besar would be able to win back the parliamentary seat that was won in the last general election by former party member Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The Port Klang state assemblyman said that Amirudin has an excellent track record in administering the Selangor government as well as the Sungai Tua state assemblyman.

“Various people-centric programmes have been introduced under Initiatif Selangor Penyayang, which were implemented post-Covid-19 to help in the state’s recovery and get it back on track.

“The Selangor PKR machinery is all-prepared and fully supports the party’s decision.

“For the Selangor people, especially those in the Gombak parliament constituency, the past experience has taught us that the oppressors must be punished. Together, we must ensure that Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari is elected as the Gombak member of parliament,” he said in a statement.

Last night, Amirudin was announced as the PKR candidate for the Gombak parliamentary seat and is expected to contest against Mohamed Azmin, who switched parties and caused the fall of the Pakatan Harapan government in February 2020.

Amirudin, who is also the PKR vice-president, had won the Sungai Tua state seat for three terms. In the last general polls (GE14), Amirudin defeated Barisan Nasional candidate N. Rawisandran with a majority of 11,374 votes.
