By Norrasyidah Arshad

SEPANG, Oct 29 — The 2020 Selangor Budget will include an announcement on a deposit plan to purchase homes for those in the low-income groups.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the initiative is one of the efforts to help more people in the state in purchasing their own homes.

“We will be announcing this initiative in the state budget that will be tabled on November 25. We will help the people in improving their chances of securing the funds for the deposit.

“In the past, we faced the challenge to provide (affordable) houses and we were able to achieve where we provided from 30,00 units to 60,000 homes. The problem that arises now is regarding the housing loan as the buyer lacks the funds for the deposit. So this measure is to address the issue and assist the homeowners,” he told a press conference after the launch of the Rumah Idaman Melur project, here today.

The Selangor State Legislative Assembly, which was postponed from October 28, is scheduled to begin on November 23 and the 2023 state budget is to be tabled on November 25.

The state assembly sitting is slated to sit for 10 days until December 6.
