PKR to announce GE15 candidates tonight

SHAH ALAM, Oct 28 Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) will announce its list of candidates for the 15th general election (GE15), tonight.

The announcement, which will be held at Padang MPAJ Taman Kosas, Ampang, is scheduled to start at 8.30pm and the names of the candidates are expected to be unveiled at 10.40pm.

PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and its election director Rafizi Ramli are among those slated to speak at the event.

On Wednesday, the party announced seven high-profile candidates who will be running under the PKR ticket, which include the eldest son of the late PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, Nik Omar Nik Abdul Aziz.

The other six fresh faces are former senior civil service officer Datuk Zainal Azman Abu Seman, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) former vice chancellor Datuk Hassan Basri Awang Mat Dahan, Universiti Malaya Parasitology Department senior lecturer Dr Noraishah Mydin Abdul Aziz, Lembaga Zakat Selangor former chief executive officer Saipolyazan Yusop, Malaysian Youth Council (MBM) former president Jufitri Joha and Universiti Malaya PhD candidate Fathin Amelina Fazlie.

Meanwhile, during the Jelajah Mega Harapan later that night, Anwar had hinted Selangor PKR chairman Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, who is also the Selangor Menteri Besar and Sungai Tua state assemblyman, as the candidate for the Gombak parliamentary seat.

On October 20, Anwar confirmed that he will contest the Tambun parliamentary seat in Perak.
