Harapan candidate to address Bangi’s livability issues in parliament

BANGI, Nov 15 — Pakatan Harapan’s (Harapan) parliamentary seat candidate for Bangi Syahredzan Johan has pledged to address the constituency’s livability issues in parliament if elected.

Along with the experience of working closely with two-term incumbent Bangi MP Ong Kian Ming since June, the 39-year-old Selangor native also vowed to put his expertise as a lawyer to good use.

“I have worked early on to identify issues affecting the people in Bangi since June. The majority of the issues are related to urbanisation, including traffic congestion, flash floods, youth employment, and public transportation.

“All these can be lumped into one core issue which is the people’s well-being as the people in Bangi want to live in an area with high livability index. These are the problems that I vow to solve if I am elected as MP,” he said when met after visiting the morning market at Kampung Baru Batu 11, Cheras, on November 12.

Syahredzan also pledged to bring up the issue of Bangi’s poor first- and last-mile public transportation connectivity as the only rail access ends in Balakong and Kajang.

He said that he plans to work closely as a team with local council members, village heads and community leaders to solve the problems in the constituency.

In the coming 15th general election (GE15) on November 19, Syahredzan faces an eight-cornered contest against candidates from Barisan Nasional, Perikatan Nasional, Pejuang, Parti Rakyat Malaysia, and three independent candidates.
