SHAH ALAM, Nov 16 — The whole of Selangor is expected to be hit with thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds until 4am tomorrow, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a warning issued at 10.40pm, the agency said that inclement weather is also anticipated for Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Perlis.

“The same goes for Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim) and Kelantan (Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang).

“Meanwhile, Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Bera and Rompin) and Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Kluang, Mersing and Kota Tinggi) is also expected to experience strong weather,” it said.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding an hour for a single release.
