MB a hard worker quick with solutions, says Gombak folks

GOMBAK, Nov 1 — Residents in Gombak have described Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari as a diligent leader who is quick to help the people with their problems.

Retiree Rossly Baba, 66, from Taman Sri Gombak, said the Menteri Besar has a solid track record as both a state leader and assemblyman for Sungai Tua (previously known as Batu Caves) and has always been quick to channel assistance and incentives to those in need.

A lot of assistance has been provided to the people. It’s a good move if he wants to contest in the (Gombak) parliamentary seat,” Rossly said when met on October 26, before Amirudin was announced as the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the constituency.

First-time voter Mohamed Nizam Haliq, 23, shared the same sentiment, adding that Amirudin has provided all sorts of help to the people, especially during the Covid-19 outbreak.

“During the pandemic, my family and I were among those who received food baskets from the state government. The support was much needed as we were struggling at that time,” said the stall assistant in Kampung Makmur.

Housewife Norsheila Mohd Kasim, 32, said Amirudin is a leader who is quick to come up with solutions, as seen when he introduced the Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat programme to sell meat, fish and other fresh produce at discounted prices in response to the rising cost of living.

“I hope the Menteri Besar would initiate more of such programmes as they greatly help in lessening our burdens. Food prices have doubled and it has been difficult to meet our rent payments,” said the Gombak Setia voter.

Thirty-year-old G. Chandran also had good words for Amirudin, saying he is not one to shy away from hard work.

“I have first-hand experience in witnessing how dedicated he is. When we were battling the pandemic, he was here to distribute food baskets and then he came again to make sure we were all tested for Covid-19. Everyone of us was tested for free,” said the mechanic.

Chandran added that he believes Amirudin is the best person to serve Gombak and hopes that he wins the constituency in the upcoming elections.
