MB urges Gombak residents to maintain Harapan mandate in upcoming state election

By Azian Aziz

GOMBAK, Dec 12 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has urged Gombak’s residents to continue in their efforts to maintain Pakatan Harapan’s mandate during the state election, which is expected a few months from now.

The Gombak MP said he believes the State Legislative Assembly will be dissolved within four to five months, as part of the process to obtain a new mandate and to ensure the stability, prosperity and unity of the people in Selangor and Malaysia as a whole.

“As such, I call upon the people of Gombak to defend the existing mandate and augment our strength as we want to ensure that Selangor continues to be strong, with a spirit of unity and mutual respect.

“Do not indulge in hatred, slander, the desire for war, or envy of others,” he said at a kenduri to mark Harapan’s victory in the constituency during the 15th general election (GE15) on November 19, at the Greenwood Food Court yesterday night.

Amirudin said the state will always focus on the people’s needs, rather than on sentiments, accusations, strife and slander that is damaging to harmony.

“May Gombak and Sungai Tua remain in mutual agreement, Gombak Setia remain under Harapan, and Hulu Kelang remain under Harapan’s agreement,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Menteri Besar who is also the Sungai Tua state assemblyman said some 100 tablets and laptops for youths and students in Gombak will be distributed within the next two weeks.

Amirudin said the donated devices are the start of 10,000 tablets and laptops for educational and entrepreneurial purposes.

“To the people of Gombak, I have not forgotten my promise that within five years there will be 10,000 tablets and laptops for youths and students to use,” he said.

Thousands of local residents attended the event, which was also held to appreciate the hard work of Harapan’s election machinery and its personnel during GE15.

During the campaigning period, Amirudin promised to provide 10,000 laptops and devices for educational and entrepreneurial purposes in Gombak.

He said 2,000 units will be distributed every year to the underprivileged, so they can engage in online learning and business.

Amirudin also spoke about several issues related to residential strata property rights in the Sri Gombak area, which will be resolved starting in January next year.

“By January we will resolve the issue of strata ownership in Pangsapuri Kenanga, Chempaka, and the area surrounding Sri Gombak,” he said.

During an afternoon tea event in Gombak on November 4, Amirudin stated the state government will cover the RM2.2 million cost of resolving the strata ownership issue of three apartments in Taman Gombak Permai which were built in 2005. They include Kenanga, Beringin and Cempaka.
