PSM proposes name change to Persekutuan Sepak Takraw Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 — Persatuan Sepak Takraw Malaysia (PSM) has proposed to change its name to Persekutuan Sepak Takraw Malaysia to fulfil the conditions of rejoining the Asian Sepak Takraw Federation (Astaf).

Its president Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan said the matter would be discussed during its committee meeting that will be held soon.

“It is indirectly to fulfil a condition to rejoin Astaf as it has been previously discussed with Astaf president Datuk Abdul Halim Kader.

“The important objective is that we can rebrand PSM to a federation,” he told reporters at a special media conference here today.

PSM had previously been removed from the Astaf in May 2021 after its then president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Ismail sent a letter to the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the International Olympic Council in his capacity of Astaf deputy president on Feb 24 last year.

Meanwhile, Mohd Sumali also announced that the Perlis Sepaktakraw Association (PSTPs) had applied to rejoin as an affiliate member and the application was supported and obtained a positive response from the majority of members.
