Bandar Baru Klang provides 600 shopping vouchers for Chinese New Year

SHAH ALAM, Jan 5 — A total of 600 shopping vouchers have been provided to the Chinese community in Bandar Baru Klang in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration.

Its state assemblyman Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said the allocated vouchers for his constituency are higher than other areas as it houses over 80,000 registered voters.

He said those eligible will get the RM200 Jom Shopping vouchers soon.

“We received overwhelming applications, usually exceeding the quota limit. However, more than 90 per cent of applicants will succeed.

“We have yet to distribute the vouchers but have already informed the successful applicants,” he said when contacted.

Teng said he hopes the festival will be celebrated harmoniously among multiracial communities in the country.

“This is a tough year and hopefully everyone will be united and we have to strive to develop the economy,” he added.

In the 2023 Selangor Budget, the state government has allocated some RM16.48 million for the distribution of the Jom Shopping vouchers, which could benefit some 82,400 recipients.
